WWDC 2025: What Every Indie Dev Needs to Watch

WWDC Watch together Live Stream

The Part-time Solopreneur

Hey, Reader

Apple drops WWDC 2025 in just a few days, and honestly? This one feels different.

I'll be doing a live commentary stream on Kick during the keynote: https://kick.com/aivarsmeijers

Join me as we watch Apple hopefully answer some big questions that could change how we build apps.

What I'm Actually Watching For

AI APIs (Finally?) Everyone's talking about Apple being behind in AI. If they're serious about Apple Intelligence, we need real APIs we can actually use. Not just demos - actual tools that let us build smarter apps.

Design System Changes
Rumors are flying about new UI components and design patterns. As indie devs, we adapt fast to new design languages. It could be our chance to stand out while bigger companies are still figuring it out.

Siri Integration Points If Apple finally fixes Siri (big if), there might be new ways to integrate our apps with voice commands. It could open up entirely new user experiences.

Why This Matters for Indies

Look, Apple's been making it harder for small developers lately. But WWDC usually brings new opportunities if you know where to look.

I'll be breaking down everything in real-time from an indie dev perspective:

  • Which new APIs actually matter for small teams
  • What design changes should you adopt immediately
  • Which announcements are just marketing fluff

Stream starts 30 minutes before the keynote:https://kick.com/aivarsmeijers

Come to the live stream to watch together, no BS analysis, just practical insights you can use.

Quick Question

What are you most hoping to see from Apple this year? Hit reply and let me know - I might address it during the stream.

Talk soon,

Aivars

P.S. If you can't make the live stream, I'll send a follow-up email with the key takeaways for indie developers. No need to watch 2 hours of marketing speak.

I'll add social once I have users" is a trap The Part-time Solopreneur Hey! If you’ve ever told yourself, β€œI’ll add [feature] once I have more users”, read this. I just spent months in that trap. The feature I gated: social in MotoLog (my Strava-for-motorcycles app). Friends, leaderboard, profile cards. I kept saying I’d build it once I had more users. Today I shipped it. And realized I had it completely backwards. The trap: β€œSocial only matters once you have users.” The reality: Strava...

My app gets 59 downloads/month. I'm fixing that Hi, Quick update β€” I just launched a 28-day app marketing challenge inside the Indie App Accelerator community. The problem is simple: I have 9 apps on the App Store. Most of them get barely any downloads. My best app (Apnea) does well organically, but my newest one β€” Focus Lock β€” gets 59 downloads a month. That's not a product problem. It's a marketing problem. So for the next 28 days, I'm posting content every single day to see if consistent...

What I learned making $60K from side projects The Part-time Solopreneur Happy New Year πŸŽ‰ Just published my 2025 review. Want to share the honest numbers with you. What went well: Moved family from Latvia to Thailand. YouTube grew to 45K subscribers. Built a community that's making around $18K a year. Apps made about $40K. Total side project income is approximately $ 60,000 while still freelancing full-time. Not bad, right? Here's the thing. Revenue from apps dropped. Community income is new....
