The 28-day experiment I just started

My app gets 59 downloads/month. I'm fixing that

Hi,

Quick update β€” I just launched a 28-day app marketing challenge inside the Indie App Accelerator community.

The problem is simple: I have 9 apps on the App Store. Most of them get barely any downloads. My best app (Apnea) does well organically, but my newest one β€” Focus Lock β€” gets 59 downloads a month.

That's not a product problem. It's a marketing problem.

So for the next 28 days, I'm posting content every single day to see if consistent marketing actually moves the needle.

Here's how it works:

β†’ Week 1: Set up your profile to convert visitors into downloads

β†’ Week 2: Learn the 3 types of content (Growth, Authority, Authenticity)

β†’ Week 3: Stop creating from scratch β€” multiply what works

β†’ Week 4: Build a system you can maintain after the challenge

Every day, there's a specific action with script templates so you know exactly what to post. No guessing.

I'm doing it myself with Focus Lock. Tracking everything β€” downloads, revenue, social followers. I'll share the real numbers every week.

It's Day 2, and I've already recorded and posted my first two videos. Feels good to actually DO the marketing instead of just thinking about it.

If you have an app (or you're building one) and you want to join:

You can jump in anytime β€” all the daily posts are there waiting for you.

And even if you don't join the challenge, I'll be sharing weekly updates and lessons learned in upcoming emails. This is the content marketing experiment I've been putting off for two years.

Let's see what happens.

P.S. I also recorded a Week 1 overview video that covers the full strategy. I'll share that on YouTube this week β€” keep an eye out.

I'll add social once I have users" is a trap The Part-time Solopreneur Hey! If you’ve ever told yourself, β€œI’ll add [feature] once I have more users”, read this. I just spent months in that trap. The feature I gated: social in MotoLog (my Strava-for-motorcycles app). Friends, leaderboard, profile cards. I kept saying I’d build it once I had more users. Today I shipped it. And realized I had it completely backwards. The trap: β€œSocial only matters once you have users.” The reality: Strava...

What I learned making $60K from side projects The Part-time Solopreneur Happy New Year πŸŽ‰ Just published my 2025 review. Want to share the honest numbers with you. What went well: Moved family from Latvia to Thailand. YouTube grew to 45K subscribers. Built a community that's making around $18K a year. Apps made about $40K. Total side project income is approximately $ 60,000 while still freelancing full-time. Not bad, right? Here's the thing. Revenue from apps dropped. Community income is new....
